Thai State Visit to Italy, 1960

President Giovanni Gronchi and First Lady Carla Gronchi hosted King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand on State Visit to Italy on this day in 1960, the highlight of which was a Banquet in honour of the King and Queen (wearing her Thai Tiara) at the Quirinal Palace in Rome. Italy was a stop on King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s monumental State Visits around Europe in the Fall of 1960, which included visits to the United KingdomGermany, Portugal, Switzerland, DenmarkNorwaySweden, Italy, the Vatican, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, and Spain, eventually ending in November with their return to Thailand.
