King Olav V of Norway hosted King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand on their State Visit to Norway on this day in 1960, the highlight of which was a State Banquet at the Royal Palace of Oslo, hosted by the King (wearing the Order of the Royal House of Chakri), Crown Prince Harald (in the Order of the Royal House of Chakri), and Princess Astrid (wearing the Norwegian Emerald Parure and the Order of St. Olav) in honour of the King (in the Order of St. Olav) and Queen (wearing the Floral Bandeau Tiara and the Order of the Royal House of Chakri). Norway was a stop on King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s monumental State Visits around Europe in the Fall of 1960, which included visits to the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, the Vatican, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, and Spain, eventually ending in November with their return to Thailand.
