Queen Rania’s Crown Brooch

Happy Birthday to Queen Rania of Jordan, who turns 50 today! As one of the most public Middle Eastern Consorts, she frequently attends glittering events, despite having a small collection of heirloom jewel. In honour of her Birthday, we are taking a look at her Crown Brooch:

A Gold and Diamond Crown with five arches and four rubies on the base, the Crown Brooch was first worn by Queen Rania during the Enthronement of King Abdullah II in 1999, when she was awarded the Order of Al-Hussein bin Ali, Jordan highest Order, just months after unexpectedly becoming the Queen of Jordan.

The Crown Brooch was often worn during the early years of King Abdullah’s Reign, notably with Queen Alia’s Cartier Tiara on a State Visit to Spain, and with her Diamond Tiara on a State Visit to Britain, as well for an Official Portrait. The Crown Brooch has not been worn for years, but I hope we see it sometime soon.
