Queen arrives at Balmoral

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh have arrived at Balmoral Castle in Scotland for their annual summer holiday, after having been isolating at Windsor Castle for the past couple of months. They travelled from Windsor to RAF Northolt, boarding a plane to Aberdeen, from where they were driven to the Balmoral Estate, around an hour away. The Queen and Duke are expected to remain at Balmoral until October, and like previous years, members of the Royal Family are expected to come visit them for a few days.

  1. It is perfectly understandable, and indeed prudent, for the normally thrifty Queen (94) and her husband Prince Philip (99) to have used private transport to Balmoral this year. The Queen is happy to use public transport, but this year is very much an exception. No doubt they’re pleased to change their surroundings after 4 months of isolation at Windsor. Scotland is nice and cool during the summer heat days.
