The Abdication of Queen Isabella II of Spain at the Palacio Castilla in Paris on this day in 1870, in favour of her son King Alfonso XII, two years into her exile after the Glorious Revolution and four years ahead of the Restoration of the Bourbon Monarchy under King Alfonso XII. The 150th Anniversary also marks the last time a Queen Regnant sat on the Spanish Throne, a position that will one day be occupied by the current Princess of Asturias.
