— The Royal Watcher (@saadsalman719) April 17, 2020Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were in the midst of hosting Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie of France at Windsor Castle on this day in 1855, during a State Visit with events including a visit to the Crystal Palace, a Reception at the Guildhall, a Gala Performance at Covent Garden, a Concert at Buckingham Palace, a Ball at Windsor Castle, and even an assassination attempt on the life of the French Emperor, but the undoubted highlight was the Investiture of the Emperor by Queen Victoria (wearing her Regal Circlet) into the Most Noble Order of the Garter, while the Prince Consort, Empress (in her Pearl Tiara), Prince of Wales, and Princess Victoria watched.
