Crown Prince Leka II of Albania

Happy Birthday to Crown Prince Leka II of Albania, who turns 38 today! The only son of King Leka I and Queen Susan of Albania, he was born in South Africa, with the government declaring his maternity ward temporarily Albanian territory to ensure that he was born on Albanian soil. Prince Leka Anwar Zog Reza Baudouin Msiziwe Zogu was named after Egyptian president Anwar El Sadat, his grandfather King Zog I, Shah Mohammed Reza of Iran, and King Baudouin of the Belgians. Educated at St Peter’s College in Johannesburg followed by a period at Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, Prince Leka completed his studies at the Università per Stranieri in Perugia and at the Albanian Military Academy Skanderbej. Prince Leka was an official at the Albanian Ministry of Interior and has served as an advisor at the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Presidency, succeeding his father as head of the House of Zogu, titular King of the Albanians in 2011, known as Crown Prince Leka II. In 2016, he married Albanian Actress Elia Zaharia, with a plethora of royal guests in attendance, and the couple reside in Tirana. We wish HRH a very Happy Birthday and many Happy Returns!
