Happy Birthday to Princess Maria Beatrice of Savoy, who turns 77 today! Born Principessa Maria Beatrice Elena Margherita Ludovica Caterina Romana di Savoia, known as ‘Titi’, the youngest child of King Umberto II of Italy and Princess Marie Jose of Belgium, she grew up in Italy until the fall of the Monarchy in 1946, following which she joined her mother and siblings in Switzerland while the King went to Portugal. Princess Maria Beatrice attempted to marry Italian actor Maurizio Arena in 1967 but was prevented by her family, who filed a lawsuit claiming that she was mentally unfit to marry and she later married Luis Rafael Reyna-Corvalán y Dillon, an Argentine Diplomat, in 1970 and had three children, residing in Mexico before their divorce in 1998, when she and the children were joined by Queen Marie Jose in Mexico for a period.
