The Wedding of Infanta Beatriz of Spain, elder daughter of King Alfonso XIII of Spain and Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, and Don Alessandro Torlonia, 5th Prince di Civitella-Cesi at the Chiesa del Gesù in Rome on this day in 1935, followed by an Audience with Pope Pius XI at the Vatican. Royal Guests and Relatives included King Alfonso XIII, King Victor Emmanuel and Queen Elena of Italy and 52 princes of the blood Royal, though neither Queen Victoria Eugenie nor the bride’s eldest brother, Alfonso, Count of Covadonga attended the wedding. The couple had four children and eleven grandchildren, including Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg, residing at the Palazzo Torlonia.
