King Juan Carlos (wearing the Order of Al-Hussein bin Ali) and Queen Sofia (in the Mellerio Shell Tiara and the Supreme Order of the Renaissance) of Spain host a glittering State Banquet in honour of King Abdullah II (in the Order of Isabella the Catholic) and Queen Rania (wearing the Queen Alia’s Cartier Tiara and the Order of Isabella the Catholic) of Jordan at the Royal Palace of Madrid on this day in 1999. The Prince of Asturias (wearing the Supreme Order of the Renaissance), Princess Alia bint Hussein (in the Order of Isabella the Catholic), Infanta Elena (wearing the Marichalar Tiara and the Order of the Star of Jordan), and the Duke of Lugo (in the Order of Independence) were also present. This was the first State Visit of King Abdullah’s Reign, a few months after his accession.
