King Willem-Alexander,Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands have announced that Princess Christina passed away earlier this morning at the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague at the age of 72, after suffering from bone cancer for several years. The youngest daughter of Prince Bernhard and Queen Juliana, and younger sister of Princess Beatrix, Princess Christina was born nearly blind, since her mother had contracted German measles during the pregnancy. However, with the aid of special glasses, she was able to have a normal childhood and pursued an education in classical music in Canada. In 1975, Princess Christina married Cuban Jorge Guillermo, giving up her rights to the Dutch Throne. The couple had three children, but divorced in 1996. Princess Christina lived between the US, London, and Italy. She recorded several CDs and had a Music Foundation in the Netherlands, but did not carry out any official engagements.

Our condolences to the Dutch Royal Family on this tragic loss! May she rest in peace!

  1. I am commenting to make you know of the extraordinary discovery my wife’s child gained reading through your web site. She came to find many things, including what it’s like to have an excellent teaching nature to have others very easily understand some specialized subject matter. You truly did more than her expected results. Many thanks for displaying such important, trustworthy, explanatory and as well as fun guidance on that topic to Janet.
