King Hussein Memorial Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 1999

King Abdullah II, Queen Rania and Queen Noor were joined by the Jordanian Royal Family as they hosted a Memorial Service for the late King Hussein of Jordan at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on this day in 1999, with guests including the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales (who gave a reading), Queen Sofia of Spain, King Constantine and Queen Anne Marie of Greece, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia, and various members of the British, Greek, and Yugoslavian Royal Families, who joined leading British dignitaries including several former Prime Ministers. King Hussein was the longest-serving executive head of state in the world at the time of his death in February 1999, and his Funeral was attended by a huge number of dignitaries. The Royal Guests were in London to attend the Wedding of Princess Alexia of Greece a few days later.
