Wedding of Prince Albert II of Monaco

Happy Anniversary to Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, who got married in a series of lavish celebrations on this day in 2011! The couple have two children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella of Monaco.

Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock got married in a Civil Ceremony in the Throne Room of the Prince’s Palace on July 1st, in a ceremony conducted by the Director of the Judicial Services and President of the Council of State. Afterwards, they appeared on the Palace Balcony before joining the citizens of Monaco for a buffet supper and a reception in Port Hercules, followed by a special sound and light show in the evening.

The following day, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene got married in a Religious Ceremony in the Main Courtyard of the Prince’s Palace, in a Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Monaco. Following the Ceremony, the couple went to the Sainte Dévote Church, where under tradition, the bride of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco lays her bridal bouquet at the chapel after the wedding ceremony. In the evening, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene hosted a Banquet and Ball at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.
