The Christening of Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece, the second child and eldest son of King Constantine II of Greece (wearing the Order of the Redeemer and the Order of Saints George and Constantine) and Princess Anne Marie of Denmark (in the Greek Emerald Brooch and Order of the Redeemer), at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens on this day in 1967, which was the last grand occasion of the Greek Monarchy, ahead of the Royal Family fleeing the country in exile later that year. Since Greece was under a military dictatorship, members of other Royal Families, including his maternal Danish Royal grandparents and the Prince of Wales (godfather) were unable to attend. Members of the Greek Royal family in attendance included Queen Frederica (wearing the Greek Pearl and Diamond Necklace, Queen Sophia’s Ruby Brooch, Ruby Pendant, and the Order of the Redeemer), Princess Alexia, Princess Sofia (in her Wedding Necklace and the Order of Saints Olga and Sophia), Princess Irene, and Prince and Princess Michael of Greece.
