The Wedding of Princess Cecilie of Prussia (wearing Crown Princess Cecilie’s Faberge Tiara), daughter of Crown Prince Wilhelm and Crown Princess Cecilie of Prussia, and Clyde Harris at Burg Hohenzollern on this day in 1949. The couple met at Schloss Wolfsgarten, in the days after the end of the Second World War, where the American art expert was sent by the US Army to recover art stolen by the Nazis or hidden by the Hesse Princely Family, belonging to the Princess’ relatives. The couple settled in Amarillo, Texas, where he worked as an interior designer. They had one daughter and remained married until his death in 1958. The Princess passed away in 1975, while visiting relatives in Germany.
