The national anthem was played as the Queen and members of the Royal Family arrived for the Trooping the Colour ceremony and the Queen’s Parade at Horse Guards Parade. The Queen inspected the guards from a carriage, unlike horseback of previous years. Later, the Queen watched the Queen’s Parade from a platform. This year, the 1st Battalion of The Coldstream Guards ‘trooped’ their colour.

Later, members of the Royal Family waved the Queen back to the Palace, before almost the entire extended British Royal Family appeared on the famous balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Royal Air Force Flypast. They retreated inside after the flypast was over, signalling the end of the Trooping the Colour.

  1. It was wonderful to see the extended family in the balcony with the Queen! This is an occasion where the more the merrier, plus it’s very nice to see people we rarely see like the Ogilvys and the Gillmans. The Queen looked marvelous celebrating her 93rd birthday!
