Funeral of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg

The Funeral of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg at the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Luxembourg following the Funeral Procession, transporting the coffin on the base of a canon gifted by the Irish Guards, from the Palais Grand-Ducal to the Cathedral through the Rue de la Reine, Rue du Fossé and Rue Notre-Dame, which followed by members of the Grand Ducal Family and dignitaries, and preceded by his Orders and Insignia. After the Funeral Mass, the body of the late Grand Duke was laid to rest beside the late Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte and other deceased members of the Family in the Cathedral Crypt.

The entire Grand Ducal Family was present, including Grand Duke Jean’s five children; Grand Duke Henri, Archduchess Marie Astrid of Austria, Prince Jean, Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein, and Prince Guillaume with their respective, spouses, children and grandchildren. Also present were the late Grand Duke’s Belgian, Hohenberg, Henckel von Donnersmarck, Holstein-Ledreborg, Ligne, Habsburg and Bourbon-Parma relatives.

Royal Guests included King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians, the Duchess of Brabant, King Albert II and Queen Paola, Prince Lorenz and Princess Astrid, Prince Laurent, and Princess Léa of Belgium, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, King Harald V, Queen Sonja, and Princess Astrid of Norway, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, Queen Anne Marie and Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece, Prince Albert II of Monaco, Hereditary Prince Alois and Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein, The Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Margareta, Custodian of the Crown of Romania and Prince Radu of Romania, Prince Hassan, Princess Sarvath, Prince Rashid and Princess Badia of Jordan, The Archduke of Austria, Crown Princess Miriam of Bulgaria, the Duke and Duchess of Braganza, the Prince of Prussia, Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco, the Duke of Bavaria, Crown Prince Leka II of Albania, Countess Mountbatten, Lady Elisabeth Anson, the Count and Countess of Paris, Prince Charles Henri and Princess Mare-Françoise de Lobkowicz, Prince Napoleon, the Duke and Duchess of Castro, the Duke of Calabria and the Duke of Noto, the Duke and Duchess of Parma, and Prince Serge and Princess Eleonora of Yugoslavia. Also present were members of the Arenberg, Löwenstein, Bourbon, Bourbon-Two-Sicilies, Arco, Baden, Croy, Quadt, Oldenburg, Waldburg, Württemberg, Limburg-Stirum, Looz-Corswarem, Monseignat, Croy-Roeulx, Sayn-Wittgenstein, Sayn, Ursel, Urach Royal and Noble Families (a huge thanks to Svenja of Luxarazzi for her help).

After the Funeral, the extended Family and Royal and Noble Guests attended a Reception hosted by the Grand Ducal Family at the Palais Grand-Ducal.
