Norwegian State Visit to Japan, 2001

Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan hosted King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway on their 4-day State Visit to Japan on this day in 2001, the highlight of which was the glittering State Banquet hosted by the Emperor (wearing the Order of St. Olav and the Order of the Chrysanthemum) and Empress (in the Imperial Chrysanthemum Tiara and the Order of St. Olav) at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo in honour of King Harald (wearing the Order of the Chrysanthemum) and Queen Sonja (in Queen Josefina’s Diamond Tiara and the Order of the Precious Crown). Crown Prince Naruhito (wearing the Order of St. Olav) and Crown Princess Masako (in the Diamond Scroll Tiara and Order of St. Olav) were among the members of the Imperial Family in attendance.
