The Wedding Ball of Archduke Robert of Austria, the Archduke of Austria-Este, second son of Emperor Karl and Empress Zita of Austria, and Princess Margherita of Savoy-Aosta (wearing the Savoy-Aosta Emerald Necklace), daughter of the 3rd Duke of Aosta and Princess Anne d’Orléans, in France on this day in 1953, on the eve of their Wedding. Royal Guests and Relatives included Empress Zita of Austria (in her Jet Tiara, the Order of Elizabeth, and the Order of the Starry Cross), Archduke Otto and Archduchess Regina von Habsburg (wearing Empress Zita’s Diamond Tiara), the Dowager Duchess of Aosta (in the Savoy-Aosta Tiara), King Umberto and Queen Marie Jose of Italy (wearing Queen Margherita’s Diamond Wreath Tiara), Queen Giovanna (in the Köchert Tiara) and Princess Marie Louise of Bulgaria (wearing the Bulgarian Floral Tiara), and the Count and Countess of Paris (in the Orléans Sapphire Parure).
There was a lot of carat power at this ball, wasn’t there. I guess things were not too bad in 1953.
I agree, especially when almost all of them were exiled!
