King Carl XVI Gustav and Queen Silvia were joined by Crown Princess Victoria, and Prince Daniel as they attended the annual Formal Gathering of the Swedish Academy at the Exchange Hall on the evening of December 20th, which is always held four days before Christmas. The Formal Gathering is scheduled the last engagement of the Swedish Royal Family this year. At the Gathering, the Swedish Academy decides on the Nobel Laureates for the following year’s Nobel Prizes. Due to the ongoing scandal, the King decided the rest of the Royal Family would not attend, unlike previous years.

Queen Silvia wore a black gown, pearl necklace, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch. Crown Princess Victoria wore a navy jacket and skirt, diamond earrings and brooch, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch. Prince Daniel wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim and the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star.
