Nobel Peace Prize 2018

King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway attended the annual Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and Banquet in Oslo on December 10th. While the other Noble Prizes are awarded by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, only the Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded at a ceremony by the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee in the presence of King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit at the Oslo City Hall. This year’s Prize was given to  Denis Mukwege, from Congo, and Nadia Murad, from Iraq, for “their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.”. In the evening, the Royal Family attended the Nobel Peace Prize Banquet at the Grand Hotel in Oslo.
