The Queen hosted the annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace on the evening December 4th. The Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were also present. The glittering white tie affair is the the main ambassadorial social event of the year in London. In addition to ambassadors, high commissioners and their partners, around 600 foreign diplomats based in London were among the guests together with around 300 British diplomats and senior figures from commerce, education, broadcasting and the arts. Unlike previous years, there was a rota photographer who took pictures from inside the event, a shock even after a surprise portrait two years ago.

  1. OMG!!! The Queen was looking absolutely marvelous tonight! I love it when they are able to adapt fashion tendencies for her age. She looked fabulous in her see-through lace hemline. The Girls of Great Britain tiara was glittering prodigiously and her necklace was divine! The Duchess of Cornwall looked very nice and proper, but I, for one, love to see her in other necklaces than her chokers. The Duchess of Cambridge was adorable! Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot tiara looks wonderful on her, but I really hope she doesn’t make it her only go-to tiara! Tiara events are getting scarce these days and I’m hoping she wears the Oriental Circlet one of those days. But, we are very lucky that they had a photographer in there this time. We’ve had to content ourselves with fleeting glimpses in the car in the past. I hope they continue to do so in future events!

    1. Everyone looked very lovely, but also very predictable! In fact I only had to change Camilla’s earrings from my pre-written article before publishing, otherwise it was almost the same as the last two years! I do hope they will continue to have a photographer there from now, it is such a treat to be able to see inside!
