Emperor Karl I, Empress Zita, and Crown Prince Otto of Austria-Hungary lead the Funeral Procession of Emperor Franz Joseph I from the Hofburg Palace through the streets of Vienna to St. Stephen’s Cathedral for the Funeral. Due to the ongoing First World War, the only major foreign royals in attendance were the King of Bavaria, the King of Saxony, Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany, and the Crown Prince of Sweden. Both the Kaiser and Emperor Karl would lose their throne just two years later, at the end of the War.
