The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on their first official Tour as a married couple, to Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand, from October 16th to the 31st, mainly in connection with the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney. — The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (@KensingtonRoyal) October 31, 2018On the final day of their tour, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Rotorua, a town renowned for its geothermal activity and Maori culture, where they first visited Te Papaiouru Marae, for a formal Pōwhiri (Ceremony of Welcome) and a luncheon. Afterwards, they visited the National Kiwi Hatchery at Rainbow Springs to learn more about the centre’s kiwi breeding programme, and meet conservationists working to protect the species.

Later that afternoon, the Duke and Duchess met members of the public gathered in the city of Rotorua, before traveling to Redwoods Tree Walk, a 700m-long walkway of suspension bridges between 117-year-old Redwood trees, where they learned more about the forest’s history as they take on the tree walk, and met representatives of the local biking community under the forest canopy. The Duke and Duchess returned to Auckland in the evening, before departing for London the following day.
