A gift from King Juan Carlos, around the time of their 20th Anniversary in 1982, Queen Sofia wore this sleek Baguette Diamond Necklace frequently in the 1980s, an alternative to the large diamond necklace of the Joyas de Pasar, including two events during the Spanish State Visit to Britain in 1986.

Queen Sofia has continued to frequently wear her Baguette Diamond Necklace for all manner of events, including dinners without tiaras, and often pairs the piece with diamond drop earrings that have been in her jewellery box from at least the early 1970s.

One of the last notable appearances of the Baguette Diamond Necklace was at the State Banquet at the Élysée Palace during King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia’s State Visit to France in 2009.A simple and versatile piece, there is no doubt we will continue to see this piece on Queen Sofia or Queen Letizia for years to come.

  1. This is a lovely, modern piece that goes well with everything. I normally don’t like modern pieces because they tend to be garish, but not this one. It’s elegant and substantial. Wonderful!
