Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Tonga- Day 2

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on their first official Tour as a married couple, to Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand, from October 16th to the 31st, mainly in connection with the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney. Right before the start of the visit the couple announced that the Duchess is expecting their first child. Click HERE to take a look at the previous days of the Tour.

On the morning of October 26th, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the St George Building in Nuku’alofa to call on Prime Minister Akilisi Pohiva and members of the cabinet, after which they visited an exhibition with Princess Angelika at the Faonelua Centre, which celebrates Tongan handicrafts and products, including traditional mats and ‘tapa’ cloth, and met local Tongan traders and craftsmen.

The Duke and Duchess visited Tupou College, which is the oldest secondary school in the Pacific, founded by a British missionary in 1866, where they dedicated two forest reserves at the school’s on-site forest, the Toloa Forest Reserve, the last remaining forest area on Tonga’s main island of Tongatabu, and the Eua National Park Forest Reserve, located at the Island of Eua – to The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy. Following, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex went to the Royal Palace of Nuku’alofa to bid farewell to King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipauʻu of Tonga, before departing for Sydney.

In the evening, the Duke and Duchess attended the Australian Geographic Society Awards in Sydney, and presented youth awards to honour the highest achievements in conservation and adventure. Both gave speeches.

The Duke wore a gray suit with a pale blue tie while the Duchess wore a Martin Grant Striped Cotton Dress. Later, he changed into a navy shirt and khaki trousers, before changing back for the farewell audience. The Duchess wore a Veronica Beard “Cary” Dress. In the evening, the Duke wore a navy suit with a blue tie. The Duchess wore  stunning Oscar de la Renta dress.
