The Queen’s uncle Prince George, Duke of Kent tragically died in a plane crash in Scotland on this day in 1942, during the Second World War.His death while in the service of the RAF marked the first time in more than 450 years that a member of the royal family had died on active service. To mark the day, we are taking a look at ‘Conspiracy or Confusion: The Duke of Kent Crash’ a documentary about the events surrounding the crash and it’s aftermath.

  1. This was quite an interesting documentary. Based on the evidence it presents, I don’t think there was anything more nefarious than pilot error in bad weather in this accident.

    If he had been carrying sensitive information or valuables in his satchel, why would he be the victim of an assassination (especially by the government if one is to believe speculation)? Why would they entrust him with whatever he was carrying, only to kill him? The Rudolf Hess theory is totally wrong as he was nowhere near the accident plus he died in jail. On the other hand, if the Prince was the one piloting the plane, why not say so? There’s no crime in that and it could possibly put all the conspiracy theories to rest. The trouble with this case is that the government has made a secret of its details and that will inevitably point to conspiracy.
