Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra at Westminster Abbey in London on this day in 1902. The lavish event was the first Coronation in Britain in over 64 years, since the Coronation of Queen Victoria in 1838. The festivities were originally scheduled for June 26, but the King fell ill just two days before, postponing the Service to August. The splendid ceremony was officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, while Queen Alexandra was crowned by the Archbishop of York.
