Happy 30th Anniversary to of James and Julia Ogilvy, who got married at St Mary’s Church in Saffron Walden on this day in 1988. The only son of the Queen’s cousin, Princess Alexandra of Kent, he is 52nd-in-line to the Throne. The couple have two children, Flora and Alexander, and reside between Scotland and the US, where Julia is pursuing a degree at Harvard.

Royal Guests included the Queen, Princess of Wales, Princess Margaret, Prince Edward, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

  1. Oh, my goodness! They were so young when they married- and they look it too! Her gown is typical 80s fashion with the large puffy sleeves, but everything else is very simple and classic, so it hasn’t aged too badly. I am surprised to see that Princess Alexandra didn’t lend her the Ogilvy tiara to wear, but then it might have been the bride’s choice. By all accounts, they have been very happy and I wish for them many more years of the same. Congratulations!
