Happy Birthday to Princess Claire of Luxembourg! The second child of Gabriele and Hartmut Lademacher, she grew up in Germany and the US, and was educated in Switzerland, France, and Rome, where she is currently pursuing a doctorate in the field of organ donation ethics at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum. In 2013, she married Prince Felix of Luxembourg at the Sainte Marie-Madeleine Basilica in France. Prince Felix and Princess Claire have two children, Princess Amalia and Prince Liam, and currently reside in Geneva. Prince Felix is currently second-in-line to the Grand Duchy, and as things stand, there is a possibility that Princess Claire may one day become Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. I wish HRH a very Happy Birthday, and Many Happy Returns!

    1. Well, maybe not her, but one of her children. The Hereditary Grand Duke and Duchess don’t seem to be in any hurry to have children, and if they don’t then Prince Felix and Princess Claire’s children will inherit. (Prince Louis’ boys can’t inherit because he renounced his rights and those of his descendants, plus he’s a younger brother to Prince Felix.) In addition, abdication is not a traumatic event in Luxembourg as it has happened quite naturally several times in the past. It is possible that if the current Hereditary Grand Duke doesn’t want the job, he could abdicate when the time comes and then there you have it! 🙂

  1. The Hereditary Grand Duke and Duchess have finally had a son, Charles. So I doubt Claire will ever become the Grand Duchess.
