Belgian State Visit to Canada- Day 4

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are on a 6-day State Visit to Canada, from March 11th to 17th, at the invitation of Julie Payette, the Governor General of Canada (the representative of the Queen of Canada), to strengthen and celebrate political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde started their visit to Montreal at the SONACA Plant (MIRABEL), a successful Canada-Belgium partnership in the air & space industry. Afterwards, the met with the Lieutenant Governor of Québec and the Premier of Québec, who hosted an Official Luncheon at the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal.

In the afternoon, King Philippe attended the conclusions of the academic Roundtable “Digital Technology in learning and teaching – practices, challenges and perspectives” followed by a “networking tea” with students in mobility exchanges and alumni, while the Queen attended a Belgian Food and Gastronomy Event. Later, they attended a Conference and panel on Artificial Intelligence with the Premier of Quebec.

In the evening, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde hosted a Reception for the Belgian community living in Québec in the presence of the Lieutenant Governor of Québec at the Chalet du Mont-Royal.Screen Shot 2018-03-16 at 7.24.22 AM
