The first known appearance of the Greek diamond floral tiara came at the wedding of the couple, when the bride, Marina Karella, wore the piece for the ceremony at the Royal Palace of Athens. Since there are no pictures of Prince Michael’s late mother wearing similar jewels and it was the first time the tiara had been seen, it is suspected the piece was a new purchase.

In 1988, the tiara was worn by Princess Michael in a portrait with the Countess of Paris and her daughters and daughters-in-law at the wedding ball of Duchess Mathilde of Württemberg and Prince Erich of Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg. Prince Michael was raised by his uncle and aunt, the Count and Countess of Paris, after the death of his parents.

The last known appearance was in 1998, when their eldest daughter, Princess Alexandra, wore the Tiara to marry Nicolas Mirzayantz. It’s current location is unknown, but is suspected to still be owned by Prince and Princess Michael.

  1. Wow, this is a new tiara to me. It’s quite different, I’ll say that. I’m on the fence on whether I like it though. I’m going to see if I can find a better picture. But what’s important is that Prince Michael and his bride, the former Miss Karella, are still happily married after all these years. Congratulations! 🙂

    1. I felt the same, and I couldn’t find better pictures for almost the year I have had this sitting on file. I’d be glad if you find any more!

      1. Gosh! If you have been looking for so long, I doubt I will be successful! 🙁
