Happy Anniversary to Archduke Carl Christian and Archduchess Marie Astrid of Austria, who got married on this day in 1982! The Archduke, son of Archduke Carl Ludwig of Austria and Princess Yolande of Ligne, married Princess Marie-Astrid of Luxembourg, (wearing the Congo Diamond Necklace Tiara and a Balmain Gown) the daughter of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg and Princess Joséphine Charlotte of Belgium, in a civil ceremony at the Palais Grand-Ducal which was followed by a religious ceremony at the Cathédrale Notre Dame in Luxembourg. The couple have five children and eight grandchildren. Archduchess Marie Astrid’s sister Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg, married Prince Nikolaus of Liechtenstein a few weeks later.

Royal Guests and Relatives in attendance included Empress Zita of Austria, King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola of Belgium, Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus of the Netherlands, Queen Sofia of Spain and Infanta ElenaPrince Franz Joseph and Princess Gina of LiechtensteinCrown Prince Harald and Crown Princess Sonja of Norway, Archduke Otto von Habsburg, Prince Bertil and Princess Lilian of Sweden, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester among a host of Royal and Noble Attendees.
