Wedding of Victoria, Princess Royal and Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia, 1858

The Wedding of Victoria, Princess Royal, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia, the second-in-line to the Prussian Throne, at the Chapel Royal of St. James Palace on this day in 1858. In addition to the Queen (wearing the George IV State Diadem and her Turkish Diamond Parure), Prince Albert, and their children, Royal Guests and Relatives in attendance included King Leopold I of Belgium, the Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the Prince of Leiningen, the Duchess of Kent (wearing the Kent Amethyst Parure), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (in the Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara), Princess Marie Adelaide of Cambridge (wearing the Teck Crescent Tiara), the Grand Duke of Baden the Duchess of Orleans, the Count of Paris, the Duke of Chartres, and the Prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen among a host of nobles attendees from around Britain. The couple had a happy marriage and had eight children, including Kaiser Wilhelm II and Queen Sophia of Greece, becoming the Emperor and Empress for only 99 days in 1888, until his untimely death of Cancer.
