Icelandic State Visit to Sweden- Day 2

President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson and First Lady Eliza Jean Reid of Iceland are on their first State Visit to Sweden from January 17th to 19th, where they are guests of the Swedish Royal Family. The Presidential Couple have already been on State Visits to their fellow Nordic neighbors of Denmark and Norway. Click HERE for Day 1.

King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, and First Lady Eliza Jean Reid visited the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm for discussions on research and education cooperation between Sweden and Iceland. Afterwards, the King and President visited Folkhem and the Strandparken project in Sundbyberg, while the Queen and First Lady visited Stockholm’s City Mission’s project, Matcentralen i Veddesta. Later, the City of Stockholm hosted a luncheon for the Presidential and Royal Couples at the Stockholm City Hall. Prince Daniel and Prince Carl Philip were also in attendance. Afterwards, the two couples visited Waldemarsudde, where they were welcomed by director Karin Sidén. Then, the President and King went to Stockholm University, where President Jóhannesson gives a speech about the role of norms in today’s social change, while the Queen and First Lady visited visited Barnahus, where children who are suspected of being exposed to crime can tell their story to specially trained staff in a safe and child-friendly environment.

In the evening, President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson and First Lady Eliza Jean Reid hosted a Reception and Dinner at Moderna Museet for their Swedish Royal hosts, which was also attended by Prince Daniel and Prince Carl Philip.

  1. I really like the suit Queen Silvia wore at the visit to the Karolinska Institute. The style, color, and fabric are wonderful. The First Lady of Iceland was looking very nice too. Well done!
