The Wedding of Princess Astrid of Norway, daughter of King Olav V of Norway and Princess Martha of Sweden, and the divorced commoner Johan Martin Ferner at the Church in Asker on this day in 1961, just a month after the Wedding of her first cousin, King Baudouin of Belgium. The religious ceremony, officiated by the retired Bishop Arne Fjellbu of Nidaros, was followed by a Banquet for 200 at the Skaugum Estate hosted by King Olav. The couple had five children and many grandchildren before his death in 2015.
