Today, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will, for the first time, not lay a wreath on the Cenotaph during the Remembrance Sunday Ceremony, instead observing the proceedings from the balcony, as the Prince of Wales lays a wreath on their behalf. In honour of this, we are taking a look at the first time the then Princess Elisabeth laid a wreath on the Cenotaph, which was on this day in 1946.
