Princess Diana’s Pendant Earrings

August 31st will mark the 20th Anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, one of the most iconic women of the last century. In honour of her death anniversary, we are featuring 20 of her most iconic jewels. Today’s feature is Princess Diana’s pendant earrings, which were described as ” tiny ‘diamond’ flower-shaped studs from which could be suspended ‘sapphire’, ‘ruby’, ’emerald’ or ‘diamond’ pendants” by Leslie Field, and were one of her most worn ‘fake’ earrings.

One of the first appearances of the earrings was in June 1981, a month before the royal wedding, when Lady Diana Spencer attended the wedding of Nicholas Soames.

Another famous appearance was on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ honeymoon on the Royal Yacht Britannia.

In the early years of her marriage, especially before her jewelry collection grew, the Princess of Wales wore these pendent earrings for both daytime and evening events.

However, as her jewelry collection grew, these pendent earrings went further back in her jewelry box. The last few appearances are from 1983 and 1984. They haven’t been seen since, but would be a good choice for the Duchess of Cambridge, who favours small earrings like these.
