King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden attended the opening of the Bayreuth Festival 2017 (Bayreuth Festspielhaus) in Bayreuth, Germany on July 25th. The King and Queen are in Germany for series of events, including Queen Silvia being awarded with the Bavarian Order of Merit.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia were accompanied by Bayreuth’s mayor Brigitte Merk-Erbe, her husband Thomas Erbe, Bavarian Minister-President Horst Seehofer, and his wife Karin as they attended they attended the opening of the Bayreuth Festival 2017. The festival opened with the opera “Die Meistersinger von Nuernberg” (The Master-Singers of Nuremberg).

Queen Silvia wore navy blue lace gown with multi-coloured pearls and her new badge of the Bavarian Order of Merit. King Carl Gustaf wore Black Tie.
