Prince Ernst August of Hanover, the Hereditary Prince and elder son of the Prince of Hanover, married Ekaterina Malysheva on July 8th at the Marktkirche in Hannover. Among the guests were numerous members of European Royalty and Nobility. The wedding has created a bit of controversy recently, as the Prince of Hanover, father of the Groom, spoke out against his son in the days leading up to the wedding, and refused to give permission for the marriage. Prince Ernst August of Hanover first married Ekaterina Malysheva in a civil ceremony at the City Hall in Hanover on July 6th. The religious ceremony took place at the Marktkirche in Hannover on July 8th.

The groom’s stepmother is Princess Caroline of Monaco, and even though she is separated from his father, he is still close to his step-siblings, who were all present at the wedding. Also present were Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie Chantal of Greece, with two of their sons, the Prince and Princess of Prussia, Princess Elisabeth von Thurn and Taxis, the Margrave and Margravine of Baden, and Prince Alexander of Schaumburg-Lippe. Following the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom rode in a carriage through Hanover towards a reception at the Herrenhausen Gardens, which was followed by a private reception at Schloss Marienburg. 1. What a lovely bride! She was quite a vision in her beautifully embroidered dress and amazing tiara! Prince Ernst Augustus family has managed to hold on to quite a few family jewels and this one is perfect for a bride. I was glad to see his two siblings there as well as his step-family in force. After his father’s disagreeable shenanigans prior to the wedding it’s nice to see them lending their support. I’ve read elsewhere that Ernst Augustus, Sr might have inherited and is suffering from porfiria like its most famous sufferer, his ancestor King George III. I hope that’s not true, but if it is, it would account for a lot of his bizarre behavior, wouldn’t it? At any rate, I hope the the new young couple’s happiness is not affected by it so they can enjoy many wonderful years together.

    1. Considering Ernst Augustus Sr.’s odd behaviour over the years, I’m thinking your theory might be correct! He might also be the victim of centuries of inbreeding!
