Iceland State Visit to Norway, 1971

The Norwegian Royal Family will be hosting President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson of Iceland next week. The programme promises a glittering State Banquet at the Royal Palace of Oslo on the evening of the 21st. In honour of the upcoming State Visit, we will feature past Icelandic State Visits to Norway. Today, we flashback to the May 1971 State Visit by President Kristján Eldján. At the State Banquet at the Royal Palace of Oslo, then Crown Princess Sonja wore Queen Josefina’s Diamond Tiara. At the Return Banquet at the Grand Hotel in Oslo, she wore Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara.
