The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will undertake a two-day visit to Paris this week on behalf of the Queen, which includes a reception, black-tie dinner, and a rugby match. In honour of the visit, we here at the Royal Watcher are flashing back to some of the previous royal visits to Paris. Today’s Royal Flashback features the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh with then French President Georges Pompidou and First Lady Claude Pompidou before the start of a ‘return’ dinner, following a Dinner at the Palace of Versailles, at the British Embassy in Paris during the Queen’s 1972 State Visit to France. The Duke and Duchess’s black-tie dinner will also be held at the British Embassy in Paris.
