Danish New Year’s Reception 2017

Members of the Danish Royal family attended the annual New Year’s levee and banquet hosted by Queen Margrethe at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg in Copenhagen on January 1st. Two more New Year’s levees will be held next week. 

Queen Margrethe hosted the New Year’s levee and banquet for the government and specially-invited guests at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg. It was attended by the Queen, Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, and Princess Marie. The Royals were pictured entering the Palace and reviewing the Guard. The Banquet is a private event, but the Danish Royal Court shared a picture of the table setting earlier, on Instagram.

Queen Margrethe wore a repeated satin gown with the Pearl Poire Tiara and the earrings and Necklace from the Crown Danish Pearl and Ruby parure and the collar of the Order of the Elephant. Prince Henrik wore with the chain-link collar of the Order of the Elephant and the stars of his other orders.

Crown Prince Frederik wore uniform with his medals, the collar of the Order of the Elephant, and the stars of his other orders. Crown Princess Mary wore a metallic Jesper Hovring gown and fuchsia cape with the Danish Ruby Parure tiara, full earrings, bracelet and brooch, and the star & collar of the Order of the Elephant, as well as Queen Margrethe’s Family Order.

Prince Joachim wore uniform with his medals, the collar of the Order of the Elephant, and the stars of his other orders. Princess Marie wore a YDE gown with the Dagmar Floral Tiara, and the star & collar of the Order of the Elephant, as well as Queen Margrethe’s Family Order.

Danish Royal Tiaras

Note: The New Year’s Court is one of only three days of the year when you can wear the chain-link collar of the Order of the Elephant. Otherwise, the order is worn on the sky blue sash that extends from the left shoulder to the right hip.
