Formal Gathering of the Swedish Academy 2016

All the members of the Swedish Royal Family attended the Formal Gathering of the Swedish Academy on the evening of December 20th at the Exchange Hall in Stockholm.The Swedish Academy decides on the Nobel Laureates for the Nobel Prize Ceremony. 

The entire Swedish Royal Family, for the first time, attended the Formal Gathering of the Swedish Academy at the Exchange Hall, which is always held four days before Christmas. This year, author Sara Stridsberg was appointed a member of the Swedish Academy, and read an inaugural address. The Formal Gathering was scheduled the last engagement of the Swedish Royal Family this year.

Queen Silvia wore a glittering navy blue lace gown with a modern emerald demi-parure. Crown Princess Victoria wore a black evening gown with a diamond rivière, pearl and diamond earrings, a pearl and diamond brooch, and a diamond brooch in her hair.

Princess Sofia wore a aubergine evening gown with (as indentified by the Royals and I) Ebba Brahe earrings and a diamond brooch. Princess Madeleine wore a black lace gown with her aquamarine and diamond earrings. All the ladies wore the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim and the family order of King Carl Gustaf.

King Carl XVI Gustaf wore white tie with the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim and the neck badge of the Order of the Polar Star. Prince Daniel wore white tie with the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim and the neck badge of the Order of the Polar Star. Prince Carl Phillip wore white tie with the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim. Christopher O’Neil wore white tie with the neck badge of the Order of the Polar Star.
