The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, joined by the Earl & Countess of Wessex, attended a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey to celebrate 60 years of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. They met inspirational Duke of Edinburgh Award winners, and the Earl of Wessex delivered a speech.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, joined by the Earl & Countess of Wessex, were welcomed at Westminster Abbey by members of the clery. They heard inspiring stories from people who have completed the Duke of Edinburgh Award, before joining a 2,000 strong congregation for the service. The Earl of Wessex told some of the many inspirational stories of the people who have participated in and won the Awards, saying-“For the first time they have discovered they can do something and be proud of it.” Presenter Phillip Schofield also read a prayer.

The Queen wore a purple Angela Kelly coat and hat, pairing her Three Strand Pearl Necklace with the Kent Amethyst Brooch. The Countess of Wessex wore a navy blue Bruce Oldfield outfit with a Jane Taylor hat. The Duke of Edinburgh wore a dark suit with a black coat and a blue tie. The Earl of Wessex wore a double-breasted suit with a blue tie.
