Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Canada- Day 7

The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge visited Haida Gwaii, an archipelago on the northern coast of British Columbia, on Day 7 of their Royal Visit to Canada. They arrived by canoe at the Haida Heritage Centre and Museum in Skidegate, where they received a traditional First Nations welcome. Later they opened the new Haida Gwaii Hospital and Care Centre, before going for a boat ride and fishing on the waters of the Hecate Strait.

The Duke and Duchess arrived at the Haida Heritage Centre and Museum in Skidegate in a traditional Haida canoe, and were welcomed by First Nations elders. They attended a traditional Haida Gwaii First Nation’s welcome ceremony, also viewing a Haida Totem Pole.

They Duke and Duchess of Cambridge moved on to open the new Haida Gwaii Hospital and Care Centre. They met with patients including seniors and new mums to learn how the opening of the new hospital affects the community.

For their last engagement, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went salmon fishing with local youth on a boat ride on the waters of the Hecate Strait on the Highland Ranger from the Queen Charlotte Boat launch.

The Duke wore green trousers with a navy blue jumper. The Duchess wore green trousers with a white blouse and a Smythe jacket, later changing into a red jumper by Really Wild Clothing for the fishing trip. She also wore her Kiki McDonough citrine drop earrings.
