Prinsjesdag 2016

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands attended Prinsjesdag (Prince’s Day) on September 20th, where they visited the Dutch Parliament and addressed the parliament to outline the government’s agenda for the coming session.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima departed from Noordeinde Palace in the Class Carriage, instead of the usual Gold Carriage which is being repaired. They arrived at the Hall of Knights in The Hague, where the King delivered his Annual Budget Speech to the Parliament. Afterwards, the King and Queen returned to Noordeinde Palace, where they waved from the balcony with Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien.

King Willem-Alexander wore morning dress with the pin of the Military William Order. Queen Maxima wore a midnight blue blouse with a blue and gold skirt by Claes Iversen and a gold Fabienne Delvigne hat. She also wore sapphire and diamond earrings, Queen Wilhelmina’s sapphire stomacher brooch from the House of Orange jewel foundation, and the sash and star of the Order of the Netherlands Lion.

Prince Constantijn wore morning dress with the pin of the Order of the Netherlands Lion. Princess Laurentien wore a chain-mail inspired dress by  Hardies Hague and Talbot Runhof with a layered fascinator, Queen Maxima’s diamond chandelier earrings, a diamond dragonfly brooch, and the sash of the Order of the House of Orange.
