Sports Aid Gala at Kensington Palace

Members of the British Royal Family were out in full force attending gala events across London on the evening of June 4th. The Duke of Edinburgh and the Earl & Countess of Wessex attended the Diamonds are Forever Gala, while the Duchess of Cambridge attended the Sports Aid Gala at Kensington Palace.

On the eve of his 95th Birthday, the Duke of Edinburgh attended the Diamonds are Forever Gala, in honour of the 60th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh Trust, with his youngest son and daughter-in-law, the Earl and Countess of Wessex. The proceeds from the James Bond themed event will go to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Trust, in their aim to transform the lives of two million young people by 2020. Throughout the evening, the Royals met many of the supporters and celebrity Ambassadors of the Trust, including stars from James Bond movies. The Earl of Wessex met Sir Roger Moore and Phillip Schofe, the Countess met Dame Judi Dench, while the Duke of Edinburgh chatted with Naomi Harris.

The Duchess of Cambridge attended the 40th anniversary Sports Aid Gala dinner at Kensington Palace. The Duchess first made an appearance at the pre-dinner reception in the gardens of the Palace. Later, she gave a speech at the dinner held in the King’s Hall in the State Apartments of Kensington Palace.

The Countess of Wessex wore a mauve Bruce Oldfield gown with a ‘diamond collar’ by Heavenly Necklaces, chandelier earrings and a large bracelet. The Duchess wore the Royal Blue version of the Roland Mouret ‘Nansen’ gown with new Cartier Trinity earrings.
